Find answers to commonly asked questions below.
-
What is a price computing scale?
A price computing scale weighs an item and calculates its selling price from the weight and a per-unit rate entered by the operator. Scales like these are used wherever goods are sold by weight, so the weight and the computed price are shown together at the point of sale.
-
Which computing scales are in this collection?
This collection holds four Detecto listings: the DL Series Price Computing Scale with Integral Printer, the DM15 Price Computing Scale, and two listings of the Low-Profile D Series Price Computing Scale. All four are Detecto price computing models rather than counting or bench scales.
-
Who uses price computing scales like these?
Delis, grocery and produce departments, farmers market vendors, bakeries, meat and seafood counters, and facility food-service operations use price computing scales to weigh and price items by weight at the counter.
-
Why does the DL Series model have an integral printer?
The integral printer lets the operator print a label or receipt showing the weight and computed price right at the scale, which suits counter service where each weighed item needs a priced label for checkout.
-
What should I check before choosing one of these scales?
Check the model's listed capacity and readability against the items you weigh, whether you need the printed label the DL Series provides, and the counter space available — the Low-Profile D Series is the lower-profile counter option in this set.
