The OmniTrainer (model OT-1100), manufactured by HCI Fitness (HealthCare International), is an active and passive total body trainer with bio-feedback software, designed for physical and neurological rehabilitation exercise. It trains the upper or lower body and automatically changes between passive and active movement as the user's ability changes within a session, so a single unit can follow a patient across stages of rehabilitation.
Three training approaches are combined in one unit: Passive mode, Active mode, and OmniSense passive-assist, which automatically changes from passive to active when the user exceeds the set RPM level. In passive mode, bi-directional motorized speeds reach up to 60 RPM in 1 RPM increments, driven by dual 120-watt motors. In active mode, smooth bi-directional resistance is adjustable in increments of 1 up to level 15, with independent settings for the upper and lower units. Bio-feedback symmetry training graphs left vs. right power output in active mode, and the display also reports percent active vs. passive training.
Clinical features include spasm detection with adjustable sensitivity and a pedal aid that rotates the pedals to help with foot placement. The height-adjustable, swiveling upper unit, multi-grip U-shaped handles, and oversized pedals with heel cup and oscillating calf supports adapt the trainer to the user, and the portable unit is usable with a standard chair or a wheelchair, with voice guidance. A workout report is available on screen or exported as a PDF to USB, showing total time, distance, spasm count, and left vs. right power.
