The PhysioGait Dynamic Unweighting System (model PG-360), manufactured by HCI Fitness (HealthCare International), is a training device for simultaneous control of unweighting, posture, and balance on a treadmill or over a firm surface. Per HCI Fitness, dynamic unweighting systems are a solution for training patients in a wide range of gait disorders: the PhysioGait helps maintain proper posture, reduces load, eliminates balance problems, and improves motor coordination training. This configuration provides up to 360 lb of unweighting.
Unweighting is dynamic, with a gradual level change from fully loaded to fully unloaded, adjusted with a turn of a knob. The universal harness is designed for unilateral or bilateral support in a wipeable, breathable material, and the 28-inch powered yoke adjustment enables sit-to-stand assistance for wheelchair users. The 360-degree swivel yoke rotates and locks in position, and the wireless gait scale display magnetically mounts to the frame and shows the live unweighting amount with left vs. right feedback for the therapist.
HCI Fitness positions the PhysioGait for gait training in rehabilitation facilities, for use over a treadmill or over ground, including sit-to-stand work with wheelchair-bound patients. The adjustable-width base sets in 8 width positions during assembly to fit a variety of treadmills and doorways, and the system is battery powered with a wall charger. A Physio-Stool for the therapist is included. Facilities should confirm user height against the published limits — 7'2" over ground and 6'8" on a treadmill — and plan the 48-inch-long footprint where the system will be used.
