This pressure relief and redistribution cushion that has a dual sided checkered foam design that reduces shear forces. Pressure relief is essential for preventing decubitus ulcers and it is often the choice of a medical professional to choose a foam cushion to serve that purpose. With a standard flat cushion there is a build up of heat and a susceptibility to augmented shear force. A foam checkered surface addresses both issues and with the dual sized foam sections, residents of different weights could be accommodated. It is recommended that residents less than 140 pounds utilize the surface with smaller squares and alternatively the larger squares to be used for heavier residents.
