The Topper is a reusable powered air coverlet that manages excess heat and moisture in the microenvironment, the climate at the interface between the patient and the support surface. It fits over an existing pressure redistributing surface, adding microclimate management without replacing the mattress below.
Powered by Air Diffusion Matrix technology, the system delivers a gentle, continuous flow of air to the underside of its highly vapor permeable top layer, carrying excess moisture vapor away and helping keep vulnerable skin cool, dry, and comfortable. Its low profile provides this performance without the safety compromises of traditional low air loss overlay products, and the interaction of the inner air layer and the top layer helps offset the effects of shearing and friction.
The cover is fluid resistant, anti-fungal, and bacteriostatically treated. It wipes clean and disinfects in place using standard hospital grade solutions, and the top layer unzips for machine washing. The compact, quiet control unit hangs easily at the footboard, and fitted corners and a bottom strap secure the coverlet to the mattress below.
The Topper is indicated for use in combination with a pressure redistributing surface to aid in the prevention and treatment of skin breakdown and pressure injuries through Stage IV, by reducing excess heat and moisture within the microclimate, especially in patients who are obese, febrile, or diaphoretic.
