RCAI Opponent Hand Orthosis
The Opponent Hand Orthosis allows free wrist movement and supports and maintains the palmar arches of the hand. The Opponent Hand Orthosis can be heat molded at low temperature for patient customization.
Product Features:
- Constructed of lightweight Kydex plastic.
- Can be heat molded.
- Washable, breathable wicking foam liner.
- Ideal for finger and thumb contractures.
- Ideal for post trauma to palm.
How to use the Opponent Hand Orthosis:
- Pre-position fingers and thumb by manually stretching and extending the fingers in the Orthosis.
- Attach middle strap over MP joints.
- Secure thumb strap around thumb.
- Check web space for excessive pressure and/or blanching.
- The palm should fit snugly over the Orthosis.
- Attach wrist strap around wrist.
- Attach remaining finger strap over IP joints.
- Be sure there is no blanching of the fingertips.
Attaching the Liner:
- Attach liner to adhesive strips on Orthosis.
- Attach optional MP Strap to adhesive strip provide on the back side of the Orthosis in the palmar area with loop away from the thumb.
- Secure all straps sewn to the liner around the back of the Orthosis and over remaining adhesive strips.
- Care instructions for the Opponent Hand Orthosis.
- Wash periodically by hand with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Use a towel to absorb most of the dampness and then allow to dry at room temperature.
- Do not hang up, or iron and do not expose to direct heat sources such as stoves, heaters, radiators, direct sunlight etc.
- Do not expose to alcohol, ointments or solvents.
