The Proactive Medical 80012 Protekt Aire 1500 Air Mattress is designed for the prevention, treatment, and management of pressure ulcers, commonly called bed sores or pressure sores. When patients are confined to bed and unable to reposition themselves, the lack of mobility and movement inhibits blood circulation. This will further cut off the oxygen and nutrient delivery at the pressure point, and then cause localized injuries to the skin and/or underlying tissue.
The Proactive Medical Protekt Aire 1500 Pad features a number of bubble chambers that redistribute pressure away from the bone protrusion where bedsores usually occur. It's built with medical-grade fire-retardant PVC to support weights up to 300 pounds, while the hanging bed hooks allow for easy mounting to the bed. A pump provides fixed airflow to repeatedly inflate and deflate the pad every 10 minutes to alternate the pressure.
