A sewn webbing loop is a ready-made anchor: it is wrapped or girth-hitched around a suitable anchor point so ropes and hardware can be clipped into a closed, factory-sewn loop instead of a knot tied in flat webbing.

The PMI 5 ft sewn webbing loop in this range is listed as a 32 kN high-strength rigging anchor. As with any anchor component, the working strength of the finished system depends on how the loop is configured, so teams follow their own rigging standards.

Loops provide the anchor point and cords do the connecting work — a prusik cord can be hitched to the main line and clipped to the loop, or accessory cord can tie equipment into the anchor the loop creates.
