Dog tail tip injuries have long been hard to treat. Small cuts and grazes are continually re-traumatized as dogs vigorously wag their tails, and conventional dressings and syringe cases weigh the tail down, increasing the impact on the wound. These wounds spray blood, often refuse to heal, and tail amputation is frequently the outcome.
Dog Ends are a simple tube dressing that absorbs impact and lets these wounds heal naturally. The tubular mesh flexes just enough to absorb impact without transmitting the force down to the injured area, so the dressing takes the force rather than the tail tip. The open mesh construction gives superb ventilation of the wound area, reducing the risk of infection.
Each Dog End weighs only 0.14 ounces (4 grams), so most dogs tolerate it well, although an E collar is still recommended. Application is fast with the supplied applicator and veterinary grade tape, by veterinarians or owners, and the dressing can be worn over sterile primary dressings for added protection. The Starter Pack includes the applicator, tape, and 5 Dog Ends mesh dressings, with complete directions.
