The Jorgensen Labs J0304 Breath Fresh Scavenger is JorVet's activated-charcoal canister for passive scavenging of waste anesthetic gas. Waste gas from the anesthesia machine is passed through the canister, where the activated charcoal adsorbs the halogenated anesthetic agents, reducing staff exposure in the surgery area without a vacuum system or electrical power.
Activated charcoal adsorbs halogenated agents only; it does not remove nitrous oxide, which requires an active evacuation system. The Breath Fresh canister is vented through holes in its base and must be kept upright and elevated in a holder so gas can pass freely through the bottom; a mounting bracket is listed separately under code J0304KB, and a refill under code J0304R. The canister is changed when it has gained 50 grams over its starting weight.
