PURPOSE
The Resident-Release Soft Belts are intended to act as “gentle reminders” for patients to ask for assistance when leaving the wheelchair.
CAUTION
These devices are not restraints! They are designed to be easily opened and removed by most patients. The determination as to the appropriateness of the Resident-Release Soft Belt with either hook-and-loop closure or with quickrelease buckle for a specific patient is the responsibility of the facility and its professional and medical staff.
TO CLOSE AND OPEN THE HOOK-AND-LOOP CLOSURE Thread “hook” tab through ring on opposite belt section. Bring “hook” over ring and press against “loop” material. To release, simply pull up on hook material.
TO CLOSE AND OPEN QUICK-RELEASE BUCKLE Insert male buckle end into female end. The buckle is secure when you hear a click and see the securing tabs on the male end protruding through the openings on both sides of the female end. To release, simultaneously press the tabs on both sides of the buckle.
IMPORTANT!
Periodically check belt to make certain that the closure-whether hook-and-loop or quick-release buckle-is properly secured. It is especially important to check the closure if the patient has returned to the wheelchair and reapplied the belt by himself.
LAUNDERING
This device can be laundered and dried at temperatures up to 180°F (82°C). Bleaching is not recommended. Hook-and-loop material will pick up laundry lint which reduces the effectiveness of the closure. To reduce the accumulation of lint during laundering, secure the “hook” material to the “loop” material.
